CORE TECHNOLOGY SKILLS
Evidence/Artifacts:
Reflection: |
In my opinion, my performance with technology thus far has been pretty good. I helped to film our very first commercial and assisted in the editing process. I have also been put in charge of our company's Instagram. I think that this is a huge role because social media marketing is crucial when it comes to promoting our product. Since the beginning of this semester, I have been posting and we have gained several followers from other firms and schools. Lastly, I helped with multiple sections of the business plan. Whether it was identifying the target market or the positioning of our company, I contributed greatly to the marketing section of the business plan. So far, I believe that all of my work has been done to the best of my ability and I am excited to see my technology skills develop. Above, I have linked the three technology related things that I have worked on so far this year. I think that these things, along with my assistance is very valuable to our company. Every employee has a big role in our company and our success, and I think I have done a good job pulling my weight not only in my department, but in the company as a whole. Being that this was our company's first commercial, I definitely think that there's room for improvement. In the future, I plan on helping create seasonal promotions, whether those be fliers or commercials, and I think that they will reflect the growth of my technology skills. I think that given more time, we can make our next commercial much better. I also plan on continuing to grow our Instagram. Like I said before, social media is huge when it comes to promoting. I plan on creating and posting different ads that will attract different customers to not only follow our account, but proceed further and head to our website. Getting customers from the social media to the website is the first step in getting sales. Overall, I think my core technology skills have been pretty good but I look forward for them to grow and become better and more efficient.
LEADERSHIP
Evidence/Artifacts:
Reflection:
This month, the main project that I worked on was the marketing poster board for the Tennessee trade show. In my opinion the poster looked pretty good. I took leadership of this project with the help of a few classmates. I came up with the idea and sought it through until we created a finished product that we were satisfied with. I think that this was very valuable to the company for a few reasons. Nobody was really stepping up and taking control of this project until I did. As it got closer and closer to the trade show, I decided to be the one to step up and get the project done. This was important for the company because I feel that if I hadn't stepped up, we wouldn't have had a finished board for the trade show. Given the fact that we only had a few days to make it, it was all hands on deck. I put in 100% effort every day in class and even went during lunch to finish it up. While the poster wasn't exactly how I imagined it to be, I still believe we did an excellent job for the restrictions we were given. For future trade shows, I do hope to lead this project again so I can use what I have learned and make changes according. I would like to change the background and letters, as they weren't as clean as I would have liked. Overall it was an awesome learning experience, teaching me good time management and leadership skills.
PROFESSIONAL

Reflection:
For this month's career readiness framework, I decided to talk about my promotion to Chief Marketing Officer and how that relates to professionalism. Accoding to VEI, being professional includes communicating effectively, collaborating with others, demonstrating project management, and much more. In my opinion, I have done a pretty good job of demonstrating these traits. I think that my promotion speaks for my professionalism and my ability to step up and have a more powerful and demanding role. I think that my professionalism and promotion has been of huge value to the company. We were in desperate need of a CMO who was dedicated and ready to take on the role. I think me stepping up has been greately beneficial. As previously explained, I work extremely hard in the work place setting. I am on top of my work, I supervise all of the marketing department, I help with problem solving, etc. I put in 110% effort into every task that I do and I feel as if I contribute a great deal to not only the marketing department, but the company as a whole. While I am very proud of the work that I have accomplished, I do think there is always things to be improved upon. When it comes to my promotion and being professional, one thing I would like to improve on moving foward is planning ahead. I am one who usually deals with things as they come, but I believe it's much more professional and efficient if I were to have a game plan going into different tasks. I want to continue to learn and improve in my role as CMO and I think that will be done through experience. Overall I do think my promotion speaks a lot about my professionalism in the company and I hope to continue to grow and get better.
Functional

Reflection:
For this week's career readiness reflection, I chose to talk about my first full month as CMO. I think this a very fitting this to talk about since as a chief, I need to understand general business concepts in order to keep the Marketing department functioning effiently and effectively. I think my performance in this category has been pretty strong and valuable to the company. In the description of "Functionality" it explains someone who demonstrates industry/function-specfic skills. I think during my time as CMO, I have done a good job of performing different marketing specific tasks whether they be for tradeshows, product line, etc. Like I said before, I think this has been pretty valuable to the company in that I'm always working with my team to push out new products and promotions in order to increase company sales. Ever since the promotion, I think that my effort and role have definetly increased. I have more of a leadership role now, meaning I need to work even harder to make sure things are getting done since I am bascially in charge of all things marketing. I think some things I'd like to work on in the future would be time management and planning ahead. There have been a few times in which we're working on things last minute because we were unprepared. I think the best way to tackle this issue would be to make a calander/schedule of everything that needs to get done so we know well in advance. Overall I think my first month as CMO displays what it means to be functional in the workplace.
